Establishing schools for French-language instruction is the primary focus of the Alliance Française. The AF believes that a knowledge of the language is instrumental in understanding French culture. Because we specialize in teaching French, the AF provides optimum efficiency and flexibility in language instruction. In addition, we have a long- established policy of affordable tuition and fees. Over the years, the AF's programs have come to be characterized by the following:
  • Comprehensive and effective instruction. Recognizing that the goal of students is to communicate, the AF focuses on practical results and employs instructors who work using modern, efficient methods, including the latest audiovisual technologies. Inspired by skilled teachers, students rapidly acquire knowledge of the language in an authentic French environment. Small and personal classes have proven to yield the most effective results.
  • Careful selection of instructors. Selection of instructors is crucial to the success of the AF program. Accordingly, over 80% of our instructors are native French speakers from France and other Francophone countries; some are full-time French-language teachers for regional school systems and universities.
  • Flexible courses of study. Broadly diverse, the AF's student body includes members of the business, civic, and educational communities, as well as retirees and students from kindergarten through college. Keeping in mind the different needs of each group, we design our programs to offer maximum flexibility. Tailor-made courses can range in intensity from two hours each week for group classes to as rigorous a schedule as six hours, six days per week for private instruction.
